Geraldine McGhee

MARION, VIRGINIA: GERALDINE McGHEE, age 86, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Virginia. She was born May 3, 1928 to the late Paul Walter, Sr. and Lula Mae Phillipi McGhee. Ms. McGhee will be remembered as a kind, loving person. Geraldine would always put others first. It was just a couple of days before she peacefully passed to the Heaven she taught of in her kindergarten Sunday school class, that she was worried about her nephew Greg feeling bad. She was a member of the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church for 63 years. Geraldine was a caregiver to her mother before she died and upon her retirement from Harwood after more than forty years, you would find her reading, gardening or caring for her flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul McGhee, Jr., Reed McGhee and Neal McGhee; sisters, Katherine Repass and Martha Minter; and nephews, Paul Repass and Jimmy McGhee. Geraldine is survived by two sisters, Imogene Copenhaver of Rural Retreat, Virginia and Elizabeth Cassell of Roanoke, Virginia; nieces, Libby Jones, Mary Blevins, Barbara Wilkerson, Sherron Ferrell, Mary Glace and Donna R. McGhee; nephews, Tony Copenhaver, Dewayne Copenhaver, Paul Copenhaver, Steven McGhee, David McGhee, Ronnie McGhee, Michael Cassell and Greg McGhee. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Charlie Walker officiating. Graveside Services will be held Friday, January 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
