Goldie Carpenter

MARION, VIRGINIA: GOLDIE BARKER CARPENTER, age 78, died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Wythe County Community Hospital. She was a member of Freedom Tabernacle Baptist Church and was retired from Southwest State Hospital. She was a special person, a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Goldie is survived by her husband of sixty years, Coy D. Carpenter of Marion, Virginia; one daughter and son-in-law, Belinda and Charles Horne of Marion, Virginia; one sister and brother-in-law, Allene and Howard Roop of Bristol, Virginia; two grandchildren, Chad Horne and friend Diane Paton of Christiansburg, Virginia, and Jason Horne and wife, Christy of Marion, Virginia; one great-grandchild, Riley Horne; several nieces and nephews and a special pet Pepper also survive. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Mike Sage officiating. Burial will be held Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Resurrection Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
