Sugar Grove, Virginia
Gordon James Kirk age 53, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025 at his home, joining his Savior and his mother on Heaven’s shore.
Gordon had a precise order to his life – God first, his mother and family second, and believing that it was better to give than to receive and always paying his tithes. He was a hard worker, working as a mechanic for Dotson Hubs & Wheels. He enjoyed building birdhouses, but what he loved most was being able to give those to others as gifts, or for them to use as gifts. He didn’t want people to buy this – it was his enjoyment and his blessing to give them away. Gordon also enjoyed playing guitar, reading his Bible (often quoting scripture when talking to you), fishing and hiking. He was a bright and unique light in our world and he will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll Joe Kirk Sr. and Joyce Love Ford Kirk; brother, Carroll Joe Kirk, Jr.
Gordon is survived by his daughter, Destiny Lewis (Marty); grandchild, Logan Lewis, all of Bristol, Va.; sister, Carolyn Hess; nephews, CJ Kirk (Kristen) and their daughter, Kayleigh and Anthony Goodwin, all of Abingdon, Va.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Kirk Family Cemetery, Slab Town Road, Sugar Grove, Va. with Pastor Chuck Stout officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
