MARION VIRGINIA: GROVER C. RUSSELL, JR. age 89, died Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Virginia. He was born in Grayson County, Virginia to the late Grover and Ruth Perkins Russell. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Lasco Russell, one sister, Ann Halsey, and one granddaughter, Laila McGill. Grover was a member of the Cedar Bluff Baptist Church, a veteran of WWII having served in the U S Navy, and retired from Brunswick Corporation after 33 years of service. He graduated from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia and Johnson City Business College in Johnson City, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Katherine Crusenberry Russell of Marion, Virginia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Steve Kepley of Woodleaf, North Carolina and Brenda and Wes Norton of Zuni, Virginia; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jackie Russell of Lebanon, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Steven Kepley, Jennifer Brister, Heather Russell, Dana Hudgens and Wesley Norton; three great-grandchildren, Austin Brister, Grayson Kepley and Shelby Kepley; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Eddie Beck officiating. Burial will follow in Baptist Union Cemetery, Flatridge, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to Cedar Bluff Baptist Church, 132 Churchland Drive, Atkins, VA 24311. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com.
