MARION, Va.
Hazel L. Barker, age 82, died Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Hands of Grace, Marion, Va.
She was born December 12, 1934 in Fireco, West Virginia, to the late Ralph and Marie Smith Akers. Hazel was a member of Marion Church of God and was retired from the Southwestern State Hospital after 20 years of service in the housekeeping department.
In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by her husband, William Charles Barker; sisters, Kay Craig, Mildred Lester, Freda Perdue and Elsie Perkins; and brother, Robert Akers.
Hazel is survived by two sons, Charles Barker and wife, Lynda, of Marion, Va. and Mark Barker and wife, Teresa, of Sugar Grove, Va.; sisters, Maxine Atkins of Maryland, and Linda Mullins of Beckley, W.Va.; two brothers, Jerry Akers of Hanover, Pa., and Thomas Akers of Beckley, W.Va.; three grandsons, Charles Barker, Mark Barker and wife, Amber, and Benjiman Barker; great-grandchildren, Emmalyn Barker, Ethan Barker, and Ava Poe; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Reverend Mike Sage officiating. Graveside services will be held Monday, August 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, Va. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
