MARION, VIRGINIA: HELEN VIRGINIA DAVIS, age 83, died Friday, March 22, 2013 at her home in Marion, Virginia.
She was born November 26, 1929 in Anawalt, West Virginia to the late Josephine Justice Hall; and came to Marion in 1946. She was a very active member of Freedom Tabernacle Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Mrs. Davis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved cooking, gardening and traveling, but most of all she loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Tracy A. Blevins; second husband, Dorsey Widener and daughter, Mary Etta Blevins Nicholson.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband, George Lee Davis; seven children, Donna Blevins and husband, David; Freddy Blevins and wife, Cathy; Johnny Blevins and wife, Debbie; Bobby Blevins and wife, Kathy; Jimmy Blevins and wife, Debbie; Treasa Meek and husband, Roger; Rhoda Thomas and husband, Joe; four step-children, David Davis and wife, Martha; Carolyn Cole and husband, Johnny; Teddy Davis and wife, Tricia; Denise Underwood and husband, Sam; son-in-law, Mike Nicholson; two sisters, Evelyn Barker and Mary Byrd; seventeen grandchildren, Ranee Price, Victoria Chisholm, Teresa Lynn Burton, Stephen Ray Blevins, Annette Cox, Chad Blevins, Jessica Hoerter, Brett Blevins, Ashlee Blevins, Amanda Fletcher, Matt Blevins, Steven Meek, Stephanie Brooks, Tracy Meek, Justin Thomas, Ryan Thomas, and Breanna Widener; twenty eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; thirteen step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at Freedom Tabernacle Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Sage and Reverend David Davis officiating. Graveside services will be held Monday, March 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Freedom Tabernacle Baptist Church.
