MARION, Va.
HELEN KIRK BARNES age 78, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Va.
Helen was born June 3, 1942 in Smyth County, Va. to the late Glenn and Beulah Sheets Kirk. She was a faithful member of Valley View Baptist Church. She loved children and Christian music; but the thing that Helen loved most was reading her Bible.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Hobert Kirk, Willie Kirk and Charles Kirk; half-brothers, Frank Lowman, Gene Lowman, and Ralph Kirk; half-sisters, Mary Lee Kirk, Katherine Stone, Blanche Chaney, Gladys Ferguson and Bertha Simmons.
Helen is survived by four sisters, Pauline Pickle of Marion, Va., Opal Stamper of Chilhowie, Va., Charlotte Childers of Inman, S.C., and Carol Caldwell of Bluefield, W. Va.; half-brothers, James Kirk of Christiansburg, Va., and Ray Lowman of Bel Air, Md.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 12 noon at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Kenny Price and Pastor Chuck Stout officiating. Burial will be private in West Cemetery, 1762 Stoney Battery Road, Marion, Va. Family & friends attending are asked to follow the COVID-19 Safety & Social Distancing Guidelines.
