ATKINS, VIRGINIA: HILDRED KEYES DAVIS, age 98, died Wednesday, July 07, 2010 in Britthaven of Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband G. Fred Davis.
Hildred taught private music since the early 1930's and throughout her entire life. She played for churches and weddings, sang in choirs and directed them, led rhythm bands and choruses in public school as well as teaching public school music. She was active in the Eastern Star and the Marion Music Club. She was listed in the Who's Who in the U.S. She was a member of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Jeannette D. Peeler of Durham, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Edna Keyes of Rural Retreat, Virginia; two grandsons, Scott Peeler and Mary Beth Peeler, and their daughters, Madison and Courtney of Clermont, Florida, and Gregory Peeler and wife, Misty, and their sons and daughter, Matthew, Aaron and Anna Grace of Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend James H. Bangle officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
