SUGAR GROVE, VIRGINIA: HOWARD LEE HORNE, age 89, went to his eternal home, Saturday, January 29, 2011, to rest with Jesus and his wife Margaret who went ahead to await his arrival.
He was born April 4, 1921 to Robert Greek and Annie Pierce Horne in Sugar Grove, Virginia. Mr. Horne was a faithful member of Wharf Hill United Methodist Church since 1952 and an active member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for 50 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 68 years, Margaret Ellen Testerman Horne and two brothers, Ralph and Lloyd Horne.
Mr. Horne is survived by two daughters, Louise Brookshire and husband Jack of Rising Sun, Maryland and Darlene Walker and husband Jerry of Independence, Virginia; two brothers, Wade Horne of Sugar Grove, Virginia and Sam Horne of Picayune, Mississippi. Seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Wharf Hill United Methodist Church in Sugar Grove with Reverend Charles Leonard and Reverend Kenneth Connor officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Sugar Grove. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
