Mocksville, NC.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Ida T. Cullop age 91, was gathered by the angels and called home to her eternal rest on Thursday, January 16, 2025, in Mocksville, North Carolina. Surrounded by love, she peacefully left this world, free from pain and with a holy, restored body in the presence of the Lord.
Ida was born on March 26, 1933, to William and Bessie Thompson. In 1953, Ida fell in love with and married Raymond, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in faith, love, and devotion. Together, they built a home filled with joy, laughter, and the unwavering support of a loving family. Ida dedicated over 35 years of her life to a fulfilling career at Southwestern State Hospital in Marion, Virginia, before retiring to embrace her most cherished role: that of "NanNan" to her beloved grandchildren—Nichole, Brittany, Corey, and Kayla. As the matriarch of her family, Ida’s love and care extended to the next generation, welcoming the joy of her great-grandchildren: Jaxon (Brittany), Gunner, and Kolson (Corey & Ashley). Her devotion to her faith was evident in every aspect of her life. Ida was extremely devoted to the Sugar Grove Baptist Church Women's Missionary Union (WMU) for many years, serving in several capacities. She worked tirelessly alongside others to spread God's love and serve the community, leaving a lasting impact on the church and its mission. Ida’s love for Christ was also evident in her many years of teaching Sunday School for 1st and 2nd graders until her health no longer allowed her to serve. Her heart's mission was to instill a biblical foundation in the lives of young children, ensuring that they would carry the teachings of the Bible throughout their lives. Hundreds of children learned to memorize the names of all 66 books of the Bible under her nurturing guidance. Even in her later years, when confined to a wheelchair, Ida continued to serve the Lord with unwavering dedication. She would roll down the hallways of Davie Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Bible in her lap and a smile on her face. Her faith never wavered, and her example of resilience, joy, and devotion to God is a testament to her love and trust in Him. Ida’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith will be missed by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and a deep commitment to serving others. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family, and in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Walter Raymond Cullop; her sisters, Margie Barker and Nannie Vencille; her brother, Blaine Thompson; and an infant brother, William.
Ida is survived by her son, Donnie Cullop of Sugar Grove, Va.; her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda Powers and Leon of Statesville, Nc.; her precious grandchildren, Nichole Powers of Statesville, Nc., Brittany Powers of Mooresville, Nc., Corey Horton and Ashley of Marion, Va., and Kayla Cullop of Sugar Grove, Va.; her cherished great-grandchildren, Jaxon (Brittany), Gunner, and Kolson (Corey & Ashley); her loving sister, Carrine Harrington of Marion, Va.; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving family members and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Davie Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of Ida. She loved you so much! God bless each of you for your kindness and compassion.
