RURAL RETREAT, Va.
Imogene McGhee Copenhaver, age 91, passed away Monday, October 25, 2021 at Wythe County Community Hospital.
Imogene was a strong, independent woman who was good to her core. She was born into the depression era, but was raised in the richness of family and love. Imogene lived a wonderful full life gardening and canning in her own home until her passing. The last of eight siblings – strong brothers and sisters, a loving nurturing mother, grandmother, and friend – Imogene will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lula May McGhee; four sisters, Katherine Repass, Martha Minter, Geraldine McGhee and Elizabeth Cassell; three brothers, Paul McGhee, Jr., Reed McGhee and Neal McGhee.
Imogene is survived by her sons, Paul Copenhaver and wife, Janet of Pottstown, Penn., Anthony Copenhaver and wife, Rhonda of Temple, Texas, and Dwayne Copenhaver and wife, Kristin of Blacksburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Sarah, James and Autumn Copenhaver; three step-grandchildren, Rashanda, Rashel and Ryan Gray; and numerous nieces and nephews.
