Iris Calhoun Hermsmeier, age 95, passed away Friday, November 12, 2021 at The Blake at Charlottesville Assisted Living Facility.
She was born July 13, 1926 to the late Ted and Katie Calhoun of Sugar Grove, Va. Iris graduated from Sugar Grove High School and went to work in a Washington D.C. post office and then as a school secretary at Longfellow Intermediate School in Falls Church, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hermsmeier; daughter, Janet Bossage; and son, David Hermsmeier.
Iris is survived by her son, John Hermsmeier and wife, Kim; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Madeline, and Isabell Hermsmeier, all of Charlottesville, Va., Brian Hermsmeier and wife, Ashley and their children of Rochelle, Va.; son-in-law, John Bossage of Burlington, Vt.; sisters, Dot Hubble of Marion, Va., Glenna Miller and husband, Phil of Lansing, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
Private family graveside services will be held at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Sugar Grove, Va.
