SUGAR GROVE, Va.
Ivan Junior “Peanut” Ross, age 92, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Francis Marion Manor, Marion, Va.
Peanut was born June 12, 1926 to the late Fine Lafayette and Sally Wisman Ross in Smyth County, Va. He was retired after 47 years of faithful service to the Virginia State Highway Department. Peanut enjoyed fishing and cutting wood. He also assisted with founding and was a member of the Sugar Grove Life Saving Crew. He was known for helping with a lot of charity work in the community. Above all, Peanut was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret Williams Ross; daughter, Mary Linda Russell; grandson, David Lee Russell; four brothers; and one sister.
Peanut is survived by son, Ivan Eugene Ross and wife, Anita; granddaughter, Cynthia Osborne, all of Sugar Grove, Va.; special dog, Bubba; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Kenny Price officiating. A private burial will be held at Slemp Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
