Jack D. Anderson, age 65 of Marion died Wednesday , March 10th, 2004 from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Born on May 25th, 1938, he was the son of the late Harry C. and Kate Hash Anderson and was preceded in death by an infant son, Jonathan Paul Anderson and a sister, Geneva Anderson . He grew up in Troutdale and was a graduate of Sugar Grove High School and was employed with the Southwestern State Hospital for over 25 years. Jack was an avid golfer.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Ann Patton Anderson of Marion. One daughter and son-in-law, Kathi Lynn and Mark Lines of Roseville, California. Three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jeffrey D. and Mary Anderson of Bristol, Virginia, Brian K. and Rhonda Anderson of Abingdon, Virginia and Matthew A. Anderson of Roanoke. Three grandchildren, Haley Anderson, Benjamin Anderson and Erin Lines. Three step-grandchildren, John, Melissa and Kyle Smith. One brother and sister-in-law, Harry "Moe" and Erma Anderson of Sugar Grove. Three sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Marvin "Butch" Blankenbeckler and Carolyn and the Rev. Donald Medley, all of Sugar Grove, Virginia and Jewel and Harmon "Sonny" Greer of Lambsburg, Virginia. Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 14th at 2:30 p.m. at the Brookside Baptist Church in Sugar Grove with the Rev. Donald Medley officiating. Interment will follow in the Blevins Cemetery near Troutdale.
The body will be taken to the church one hour before the service.
Those who wish may make memorials to the Smyth-Bland Regional Library , 118 South Sheffey Street, Marion, Virginia.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 til 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel in Marion.
