NEBO, VIRGINIA: JAMES R. "BOB" HUBBLE, age 84, died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tennessee.
Born November 18, 1928 in Nebo, Virginia to the late Roy and Jennie Kinder Hubble; Bob was proud to say he was born and raised in Nebo and he faithfully remained an active contributing member of the community. He was a lifelong member of Ezelle United Methodist Church in Nebo, Virginia where he taught Sunday School. Bob was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and he proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict. He was a farmer who enjoyed gardening, tending to his yard and working in his apple orchard. An avid reader and sports fan, he was an enthusiastic baseball player who tried out for the Brooklyn Dodgers in his youth, participating in a summer training camp. Most of all, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved his family dearly. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Hubble.
Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years Alma Kegley Hubble of Nebo, Virginia; one daughter, Deborah Casola and husband, Bill of Ashburn, Virginia; one son, Jerry Hubble and wife, Anne of Andersonville, Tennessee; four grandsons, Robert Hubble and wife, Heather, David Hubble and wife, Samantha, Joseph Casola and fiancée, Julie Aurora, and Daniel Casola; one great-granddaughter, Alaina Hubble and two great-grandsons on the way; one sister, Ada Hubble Berry of Marion, Virginia; two brothers, Roscoe Hubble of Chilhowie, Virginia and G.L. Hubble of Marion, Virginia.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church, Nebo, Virginia with Reverend Leon O'Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
