James Louis Evans age 86, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Francis Marion Manor.

He was born in Sparta, N.C., November 28, 1931 to the late Elder Walter and Hattie Evans. Mr. Evans was a member of Hopkins View Primitive Baptist Church. He was an old-time claw hammer banjo player and loved his old-time bluegrass music.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ellen Miles, Ann Petty, Iva Clodfelter and Ruth Selway; brothers, Wade Evans and Roger Evans.

Mr. Evans is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, June Dancy Evans; sisters, Pat Dillard and husband, Randy, and Wanda Wyatt and husband, Joe, all of Sparta, N.C.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 3, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Elder Larry Blevins and Elder Ben Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Thomas Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Francis Marion Manor and Hospice of Southwest Virginia, with special thanks to Debbie Pennington for her kindness and care.
