ROANOKE, VIRGINIA: JAMES HOWARD MORRIS, age 68, of Roanoke and formerly of Marion, Virginia, died Thursday, September 9, 2010 at his home in Roanoke, Virginia. Mr. Morris was born in Marion, Virginia to the late Carl and Lillian Lee Morris, Sr. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Roanoke and retired after 32 years of service from the Roanoke City Fire Department with the rank of Lieutenant. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Jackson Morris of Roanoke; one daughter, Tonya Morris Stump and husband, Richard of Callaway, Virginia; one brother, Carl Morris and wife, Elaine of Marion, Virginia; three special grandchildren, Arthur, Lillian Lee and Max Stump all of Callaway, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Jane Jackson of Charlotte, North Carolina and Eleanor Jackson of Raleigh, North Carolina; one brother-in-law, Ralph Jackson and wife, Cathy of Seven Mile Ford, Virginia; special dog, Charmin; a very special friend, Beth Lynskey and a very special care giver, Bonita Patterson; several nieces and nephews and many special friends and neighbors also survive. Graveside Services will be held Monday, September 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Round Hill Cemetery in Marion, Virginia with Reverend Dick Jones officiating and Honor Guard presented by the Roanoke City Fire Department. Family will receive friends Sunday evening, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Flowers will be appreciated or Memorial Donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 4404 Williamson Road, Roanoke, VA 24012. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service and Crematory is serving the Morris Family.
