MARION, VIRGINIA: JAMES DOUGLAS "Jim" Thomas, age 59, of Marion, Virginia and Coal City, West Virginia, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008 in Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, West Virginia.
He was born June 30, 1948 in Grant, Virginia, to Paxey "Pat" Hash Thomas and the late Raymond Louis Thomas. He was a graduate of Emory & Henry College and worked in the aquaculture industry, most recently at Lilly Brook Trout Farm, Coal City, West Virginia. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Marion, Virginia.
Besides his mother, he is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Lynn Thomas of Marion, Virginia and Don and Anna Beebe Thomas of Knoxville, Tennessee; a nephew David Thomas and wife, Ashley of Knoxville, Tennessee; a niece, Emily Thomas Bull and husband, James of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; and a special companion, Vaneia Smith of Coal City, West Virginia.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 7, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Reverend Jeff Lambert officiating. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Grant Cemetery, Grant, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 115 South Church Street, Marion, Virginia 24354.
