Janet Powell Greer

MARION, Va.: Janet Powell Greer, age 67, died Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va. Janet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting; and if the weather was right, you would find her outdoors. She loved working in her flower garden, picnicking at Mt. Rogers, or camping in one of her two favorite locations, Mt. Rogers or Pigeon Forge. Janet will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Alice Powell; brothers, Harold Powell and Everette Powell; sister, Martha Gullion; and daughter-in-law, Renee L. Ramey. Janet is survived by her husband, Billy R. Greer; daughter, Robin Jones and husband, Tony all of Marion, Va.; sons, Chris Greer and wife, Karen of Sugar Grove, Va. and Travis Greer of Marion, Va.; sisters, Yolanda Compton and husband, Don of Bradenton, Fl. and Yvonne “Susie” Powell of Marion, Va.; grandchildren, Zack Greer, Kaylee Greer, Ally Greer and Cameron Greer; step-grandchildren, Lori Greer, Ronnie Jones, Melissa McInturff and Emily McInturff; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Jones, Dakota Greer and Colton Greer; special friend, Ashley Crouse; and loving cat, Burt. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend David Neitch officiating. Burial will follow in Thomas Cemetery.
