MARION, Va.: JC FRANKS, age 87, died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tn.
JC was an Aerospace Engineer in Avionics. He spent most of his career working with Brunswick Defense. He was a key designer in some of the most known air crafts of the late 20th century; such as the F-16, F-4 Phantom, Blackbird and the B1 Bomber to name a few. JC also spent much of his life in the coal industry. He acted as the family agent for coal interests for many years. As successful as he was in his work, his family was very dear to him. He was a generous man who was always ready to help and loved to visit and keep in touch with family. JC and his late wife, Trula were surrogate parents to many children. Their presence will be missed and their memories cherished by many for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Trula Smith Franks; parents, J.H. and Ida Counts Franks; and most recently his brother, Harvey Franks in addition to six siblings.
JC is survived by his son, Nelson Franks of Henrico County, Va.; sisters-in-law, Vernell Franks of Berryville, Va. and Jean Stratton of Richlands, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
