ATKINS, VIRGINIA: JEAN ARMSTRONG RUSSELL, born January 16, 1918, daughter of the late Charles and Nannie Parlier, passed from this life into eternity Sunday, April 26, 2009 in Valley Health Care Center. She will be greatly missed by all those that loved her. She was a member of Nicks Creek Presbyterian Chapel, where she had many friends.
She is survived by one son; Kenny Armstrong of Atkins; four daughters, Wanda Ellis and husband Graham of Marion, Rita A. Smith of Marion, Julia Shortt and husband Lewis of Chilhowie and Cindy Armstrong of Atkins; two brothers, Jim Parlier and wife Dot of Atkins and Gilbert Parlier and wife Jean of North Carolina; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and
great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two infant children, her first husband, James Armstrong, second husband, Paul Fuzz Russell, and daughter, Carolyn A.
Smith. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted at Seaver-Brown Chapel on Thursday,
April 30, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Dr. John DiYorio officiating. Burial will follow in Nick's Creek Community Cemetery, Atkins, Virginia. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Sam, Keith, Kenny, Trey, Adam, and Daniel. Honorary pallbearers are George Thomas and Jack Bridgeman. The family will receive
friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
