Jean Aker Stacy

March 2, 1934 — June 6, 2023

Marion, Virginia

Marion, Va.

Jean Aker Stacy age 89, passed away peacefully at her home near Hungry Mother State Park, Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

Jean was born March 2, 1934 to Printus “Prince” and Bessie (Dishner) Aker.  She was their youngest child.  She attended Marion High School and graduated in 1952.  While working at Raytheon in Bristol, Tennessee, she met Donald B. Stacy, and they were wed in 1958.  They lived in Bowie, Maryland for a number of years while Don was employed by the U.S. Secret Service.  While Jean volunteered and worked at various places while in Maryland, her priority, love, and joy was with her family.  After Don retired in 1989, they returned to her hometown of Marion, Virginia.  They were active members of Stone Memorial Presbyterian Church and also Friends of the Park.  Her daughters feel they could not write anything to do her justice, but had to mention her sunny smile, her love of music, her green thumb, her warm, welcoming hospitality, her sausage gravy, and her determination to be independent. Jean also had a strong, lifelong love of the Lord.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband Don; sisters Edith (Ershel) Bostic and Laura (Howard) Farrington; and brother Printus “Junior” (Ann) Aker.

Jean is survived by two daughters, Donna (Chris) Calhoun and Suzan (Tom) Hamill; four beloved grandchildren, James (Chelsey) Calhoun, Michael Calhoun, Lea (Bryan) Hamill and Aaron Hamill. Jean also found a lot of love and joy in her nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.  She was also very blessed to have Dave Thomas as her dearest friend.
