Jennifer Jean Yoell, who most recently lived in Blacksburg, VA died on July 18, 2024. Originally from New York State, born on January 24, 1956, she was daughter to Florence Marie Yoell and William Alfred Yoell.
After high school, Jennifer went on to get her nursing degree. She practiced in New York for many years, until she and her husband, Richard Priester, moved to Michigan where she continued her nursing career. Jennifer expressed her creativity, not only in being a knowledgeable, caring, loving nurse. She also drew pen and ink sketches and worked with ceramics for a time. Having a flair for the dramatic she participated in local theater groups with her life long friend, Donna Herrle, in quite a few productions. After her divorce, she lived for a bit longer in Michigan, then moved to Southwest Virginia about 8 years ago. Jennifer had a unique and colorful sense of fashion, matching bright colors in any ensemble. She loved the arts, the Beatles, good food and had a quirky sense of humor. She cared deeply for many in her profession and personal life. She touched many in her life and will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, witticisms, and her beauty, remaining ever in our hearts.
The youngest of six children, (the eldest, her brother Christopher Yoell, died in 2017) She is survived by four older sisters; Susan Shon Massey, Judith Godino (brother in law, Anthony Godino), Katherine Chantal and Jan Yoell.
In her last wishes, she wrote “Long ago, I was loving, compassionate, a true friend, witty, giving, and a great nurse.”
While there will be no local services for Jennifer, her remaining sisters will have a ceremony in Westchester County, New York where she was born.
