John L. "Jay Bird" Delp, 74, passed away Sunday at his home in Louisville, Kentucky.
He was born July 9, 1935 in Marion, VA. He was a Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and retired from the Montgomery Board of Education in Maryland. He was a Lutheran by faith, and preceded in death by his wife, Annie Pearl.
He is survived by his 3 sisters; Elizabeth "Bobbie" Blevins Teaster and husband Herbert of Marion, VA, Christine Stone and husband Ivan of Delaware, and Edith Jean Brown of Louisville, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 3, at 2:00 p.m. at the Seaver-Brown Chapel in Marion, VA. Burial will follow in the Attoway Cemetery where Military Rites will be conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post # 4667. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
