John Douglas Martin

 John Douglas Martin age 66, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie, Va.

 If you knew Doug, you knew a man who liked to crack jokes, be funny and make people smile. He worked in construction most of his life, until he joined the TRW workforce. Doug liked playing poker (but not losing) and fishing – but most of all he loved having company, especially when it was one of his girls bringing the grandkids over for a visit. They were the apple of his eye & he was the world’s best papaw. Doug loved his family, and they loved him. He is truly missed. 

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy & Ethel Mae Martin; sisters, Betty Martin & Judy Hall; nephews, Shannon Martin & Randy Hall; niece, Shelia Goodman. 

 Doug is survived by his daughters, Miranda Martin of Marion & Makendra Martin (Leah) of Asheboro, N.C.; brother, Michael Wade Martin of Sugar Grove; grandchildren, Asher Ryan Martin & Pheobe Noel Thomas; several nieces & nephews & their families. 

 The family will receive friends Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 5 until 6 p.m. at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Chapel, 237 East Main Street, Marion Va. Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. with Pastor Billy Guinn officiating. Burial will be private.
