MARION, Va.
John Ray Roe, age 54, died Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Va.
He was born September 23, 1962 to Margaret White Poore Roe and the late Ernest Gilmer Roe. John was a great husband, father, grandfather, son and friend. He thoroughly enjoyed cooking and gardening and loved using the fresh herbs he grew in his own garden. One of his favorite things was to smoke a pork and serve pulled pork and baked beans to his family and friends. John was a loving and spiritual man, always thinking of others above himself and willing to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Deanna Lee Roe of Marion, Va.; two daughters, Ashley Spivey of Chilhowie, Va. and Courtney Paige Roe of Marion, Va.; mother, Margaret White Poore Roe of Marion, Va.; siblings, Flafua Browne, Ernest Roe, Jr. and wife, Peggy all of Kissimmee, Fla., Cathy Roe Felshaw of Marion, Va., and Micky Breeding and husband, Joe of Aurora, Colo.; two grandchildren, Wyatt Hawkins and Madison Hawkins and one on the way, Paisley Rae Halverson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Dr. Charles Stuart officiating. Burial will follow in Middle Fork Cemetery, Chilhowie, Va. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
