JOHN C. WHITE, age 79, of Spotsylvania, Virginia, and formerly of Grundy, Virginia, died Monday, January 12, 2004 in Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was a retired contractor, master craftsman making guitars and violins, and he is at peace with God. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. Mr. White is survived by one step-son, Sonny Anderson of Maryland. Three sisters, Mary Bright of Atkins, Virginia; Helen Vandyke of Glade Spring, Virginia; and Bertha Deel of Rural Retreat, Virginia. Two brothers, George White of Rhoadesville, Virginia, and James White of Spotsylvania, Virginia. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, one step-grandchild, five step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 15, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Brother Carl Kennedy officiating. Graveside Services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Green Hills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Virginia, where military rites will be conducted by the John Ratliff Post #164 of the American Legion, Grundy, Virginia. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
