MARION, VIRGINIA: JOHNNIE EDWARD OVERBAY, SR., age 61, died Thursday, December 1, 2005 in the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, Virginia. Born April 15, 1944 in Smyth County, Virginia, to the late James and Annie Mable Thomas Overbay he lived all his life in Smyth County, was a member of the Morman Church, and retired from the Southwestern State Hospital after 32 years of service. He was a wonderful husband and great father. Johnnie felt like his greatest accomplishment was his son and daughter and they felt like he was the greatest father ever. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 37 years, Wilma Meek Overbay of Marion, Virginia; One daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Kimble Watson of Marion, Virginia; One son, Johnnie Edward Overbay, II of Marion, Virginia; Three sister s and two brothers-in-law, Carrie Freelove of Skipwith, Virginia; Margaret and Walter Baumgardner of Blountville, Tennessee; and Connie and Dwight Johnson of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. His mother-in-law, Myrtle Meek of Marion, Virginia and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 3, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with President Scott Freeman, Brother Howard Freeman and Rev. Bob Surber. A private burial will be held at Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Rural Retreat, Virginia. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
