Joyce Shepherd Cheeks is sitting at the feet of her Lord and Savior for evermore. Joyce was from Atkins, Va., she passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Northern Regional Hospital, Mt. Airy, N.C.; Joyce was 63.
Joyce worked in her family’s business, D & J Auto Parts. She continued her education and obtained her R.N. degree and license. She retired from the Salem V.A. Medical Center.
Joyce was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Amy Cheeks; parents, Wade and Margie Shepherd; three sisters, Millie, Janie, “special sister” Darlene.
Left to cherish their many great memories are her two amazing daughters, Denise Bryant and husband, T.J., Danita Riccio and husband, Brian; her pride and joy grandchildren, McKinsley Leftwich, McKayden Johnson, McKylee Johnson, Claire Bryant and Asher Riccio; great-granddaughter, Kalliope Leftwich; several nieces and nephews; special niece, Donna; numerous cousins; four special cousins, Kathy and Jimmy, Wendy and James.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 2 until 3 p.m. at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Chapel, 237 East Main Street, Marion, Va. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mike Sage officiating. Burial will be private in Wassum Cemetery, Atkins, Va.
