Juanita Phipps Ellis

April 18, 1941 — May 5, 2024

Marion, Virginia

Juanita Phipps Ellis age 83, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024.

Juanita was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family. Now she has gone on to spend time with her Heavenly family. Juanita attended Rich Valley High School, and she lived most of her life on Shooting Creek. She was “Granny” not only to her own grandchildren, but to many others who were not biologically hers. She took in everyone and she loved them all. Juanita loved raising and playing with her children. She enjoyed poetry and her favorite place was being home with family. If you visited you better come hungry, because she was not going to let you leave until you were fed. Her loving, nurturing heart will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Blanche Thomas Phipps; three brothers, Steve Phipps, Robert Phipps and George Phipps; grandson, Christopher Blevins; half-brother, Eldee Phipps (Marie); and dog, Brutos.

Juanita is survived by her husband of 65 years, Coolidge Ellis; one daughter, Brenda Blevins (Danny) three sons, Frank Ellis, Joe Ellis and Wayne Ellis (Kim) all of Marion, Va.; brother, Benjamin Phipps (Dorthea) of Cleveland, Va.; sister, Sue Mauck of Montross, Va.; eleven grandchildren, Tony Sheets, Michael Blevins, Luther Blevins, Melissa Parks, Zane Parks, Tonya Richardson, Andrew Ellis, Ayla Smith, Timothy Ellis, William Ellis and Laken Price; fifteen great-grandchildren, Riley Blevins, Ryan Blevins, Michaela Pellatier, Olivia Pellatier, Maddie Blevins, Annebelle Blevins, Orion Blevins, Nevah Jones, Courtney Richardson, Riley Richardson, Michael Sheets, Kate Sheets, Zaley Testerman, Ivy Connor and Landon Parks; seven great-great-grandchildren Kyson Ellis, Izaiah Ellis, Alijah Ellis, Everleigh Ellis, Chelsea Ellis, Xzavier Ellis and Brantley Ellis; several nieces and nephews and their families.
