SUGAR GROVE, Va.
JUNE GRIFFITTS SHULER, age 89, passed away Sunday, April 07, 2019 at Grace Healthcare, Abingdon, Va.
Born March 24, 1930 in Sugar Grove, Va. to the late Roy and Martha Williams Griffitts, June was a member and Sunday school secretary of Elizabeth United Methodist Church for many years. She was retired from Harwood Manufacturing Company and was very active in the Young at Heart in Sugar Grove, Va. When she was able, June loved to travel on the Bank of Marion Charter Bus Trips, seeing new places and making new friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Shuler; four sisters, Lenora G. Rouse, Jean G. Canter, Louise G. Pugh and Mayme G. Churchill.
The family would like to thank the many care-givers who made it possible for June to remain in her daughters’ home, and thanks to the caring staff at Grace Health Care.
June is survived by her daughter, Karen Shuler Kilgore and husband, Neal of Abingdon, Va.; sister, Lucille Kincade of Sugar Grove, Va.; grandson, Konnor Kilgore; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 11a.m. at Elizabeth United Methodist Church, 547 Virginia Highlander Road, Sugar Grove, Va. 24375, with Pastor Mike Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Pugh Cemetery, Sugar Grove, Va. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 10 until 11 a.m. at Elizabeth United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Elizabeth United Methodist Church, c/o Carol Choate, 788 Teas Road, Sugar Grove, Va. 24375.
