MARION, VIRGINIA: KATE THOMAS, age 74, formerly of Knoxville, Tennessee, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at her home in Marion.
Kate, better known as "grammy" to all her family and friends, was a loyal, faithful and dearly loved member of the W.W. Scott Senior Citizens Center.
She is survived by her husband, David A. Thomas; daughter, Mindy Dyer and husband, Miles, all of Marion, Virginia; son, Michael Thomas of Greenville, South Carolina; two sisters, Minnie Shirley of Huntsville, Alabama and Betty Rebino of Chicago, Illinois; one grandson, John Joseph Thomas of Hoover, Alabama; two granddaughters, Kara Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia and Kaitlin Thomas of Greenville, South Carolina; very special caregivers, Lisa Cornett, Julie Atkins Testerman and Amy Baldwin; special friend, Joe Burchett and many special nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, January 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with special friend Bob Powell officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
