Kathleen Ellen Pennington age 86, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at her home.

Kathleen was a true lady. She loved her family and helped raise her brothers and sisters, and then her Sammy Joe. Kathleen retired after 42 years as a cook and supervisor with the State Hospital. She loved her granddaughter Jasmine and was so thankful for the help her daughter-in-law Melissa provided. They broke the mould after Kathleen, and she will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joseph Herbert Pennington; parents, Stanley and Anna Hall; and six siblings.

Kathleen is survived by her son, Sam Pennington and wife, Melissa; granddaughter, Jasmine Pennington, all of Troutdale, Va.; sisters, Hallie Levins of Beverly Hills, Fla., JoAnne Huffman and husband, David of Winston Salem, N.C., and Emma Huffman of Mocksville, N.C.; brother, Cecil Hall of Lebanon, Va.; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Pat Kerch and Jimmy Walton.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Troutdale Baptist Church, Highway 16, Troutdale, Va. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. with Pastor Paul Arnold and Pastor Ken Riggins officiating. Graveside services will be held Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Troutdale Cemetery, Auburn Lane (Route 827), Troutdale, Va. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
