MARION, VIRGINIA: KERMIT POWERS, age 77, died Friday, February 18, 2005 in Smyth County Community Hospital. Born October 31, 1927 in Grayson County, Virginia to the late William and Bessie Little Powers he was retired from the Brunswick Corporation after 33 years of service. He was a very talented woodworker, loving father, pap-paw, and devoted husband. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Blevins Powers. Mr. Powers is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Carol and Jeff Wyatt and Velma and Bob Wolfe all of Marion, Virginia; Brenda and Wayne Ratliff of Chilhowie, Virginia; and Imigene Powers of Marion, Virginia. One son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Patty Powers of Whitetop, Virginia. Four sisters, Audrey Whitley of North Carolina; Burley Blevins of Seven Mile Ford, Virginia; Helen Felts of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Kay Hensley of Whitetop, Virginia. One brother, Max Powers of Meadowview, Virginia. A special friend, Sadie Garrick of Sugar Grove, Virginia. Eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Otis Barker officiating. Graveside Services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Barr Cemetery, Whitetop, Virginia, where Masonic Rites will be conducted by Marion Masonic Lodge #31 A.F. & A.M. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
