Lanina Jackson

d. November 21, 2008

MARION, VIRGINIA: LANINA DANIELLE HAWTHORNE JACKSON. On November 13, 1976 in Radford, Virginia, God graced Daniel and Debra Hawthorne with a daughter, Lanina Danielle Hawthorne Jackson. In His Sovereignty, God allowed Lanina to be called from time into eternity. At the age of 32, Lanina Jackson departed from this life on Friday, November 21, 2008 at Smyth County Community Hospital. It takes wisdom to build a house, and understanding to set it on a firm foundation. Lanina graduated from Marion Senior High School. She has served her community by working in various franchises and corporations in Smyth County. Additionally, she volunteered her time at community agencies like Mt. Community Action Programs. A man's greatest treasure is his wife--she is a gift from the Lord. On March 14, 1995, Lanina became the treasure of Delmas R. Jackson; high school sweethearts pledged one another their undying affection. The date of their holy matrimony commenced Delmas and Lanina's 13 year covenant of marriage. God honored Lanina and made her happy by giving her children. Lanina named the gifts God bestowed upon her Shaun, Shanic, and Shane. She valued each child's individuality, celebrated their gifts, and embraced them with care and love. Lanina was passionate about motherhood and endeavored to instruct her children to become productive citizens. Instructed as a youth to "Respect and obey God! This is what life is all about," Lanina became a member of Mt. Zion Temple Family Worship Center. She served as a member of the Temple Keeper's Ministry and participated in various community events, including the Energizer and Christmas parades. During the school year, she volunteered at New Destiny Academy. During the summer, she offered her services to the Agape Outreach Summer Enrichment Program. Lanina is preceded in death by her materal grandparents, Amanda and Robert McCallester. She leaves to pursue a God-honoring life her husband, Delmas; her children, Shawn, Shanic, and Shane; her brother, Byron Hawthorne; her parents Debra and Daniel Hawthorne; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heavens…God has made everything beautiful in His time; also He has set eternity in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God makes from the beginning to the end. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel, with Pastor Robyn Turner officiating. Private burial will be held at Round Hill Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
