Larry R. Shepherd

Larry R. Shepherd age 70, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023 at Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tenn.    

Larry was a disabled coalminer, Preacher and mechanic. He was a loving daddy, grandfather, son, and brother – and an absolute joy to be around. He loved making people laugh, always having a joke to tell. Daddy made many wonderful memories with his daughters in the Carfax neighborhood of Coeburn, Va. He loved his family, and enjoyed fishing, hunting and cars. Daddy is greatly missed – our loss is Heaven’s gain.

He was preceded in death by his parents William James and Helen Kate Shepherd; youngest daughter, Angela Shepherd Hall; brother, Raymond Shepherd, Sr.; and sister, Shelby Delp.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Kiser and husband, Bobby of Castlewood, Va.; three grandchildren, Amber Vidana and husband, Daniel of Minneapolis, Minn., Melodie Kiser and fiancé, Brian Woodruff, and Addison Kiser all of Castlewood, Va.; great-granddaughter, Arietta Vidana of Minneapolis, Minn.; sisters, Judy Ramey of Norton, Va., Brenda Robinette and husband, Ray of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; several nieces and nephews and their families; special great-great-nephew, Braden Ramey of Norton, Va.; special life-long friend, Randy Necessary of Wise, Va.

Honoring Larry’s wishes, following cremation, his ashes will be spread at his favorite fishing hole.
