Linda Parks Russell

Linda Parks Russell age 73, passed away Thursday, January 02, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. 

Linda was a strong willed, independent woman who didn’t let her illness control her life. Prior to her illness, she worked at Brunswick, was a Lady Auxiliary Member at the Smyth County Moose Lodge #1004 where she made numerous friendships, and loved to dance and run around with young men. The best part about her was she certainly didn’t hesitate to tell you what she thought if she felt the need. Linda was the cornerstone that held up the building with her unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Nellie Parks; brother, Donald Wayne Parks; and father of her children, Terry Russell. 

Linda is survived by her loving daughter, April Russell Varney; sons, Michael Brandon (Kristy), Thomas Troy; brothers, Ray Parks (Diane), Bill Parks (Cathy), Tommy Parks; sister, Opal Graham; 7 grandchildren, Brittiany Hurley, Paige Widener, Jessica Russell, Brandy Williams, Carolann Russell, Summer Russell, Sierra Varney; bonus grandchildren, Sidda and Lola Shupe and Chandler Moore; 7 great-grandchildren and two on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; friends, Betty Osborne, Debbie Carver, Tina Mutter and a host of many others. 

Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Chapel, 237 East Main Street, Marion Va. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. with Herman Cress officiating. A graveside service will be held, Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Pugh Cemetery, Teas Road, Sugar Grove, Va. 24375. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
