Lorena Catherine Ward Tilson, 84, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Francis Marion Manor.

Mrs. Tilson was a very strong Christian lady. She loved her Lord, family and friends. Lorena loved crafting, working puzzles, writing cards and letters, working in her flowers and listening to her gospel music. She had a special appreciation for classical piano music. Mrs. Tilson was always friendly, smiling and never complaining. Lorena’s family would like to thank the staff of Francis Marion Manor and Hospice of SWVA for their love and excellent care.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David C. Tilson; parents, Earl and Okie Ward; brothers, Marvin Glenn Ward; and infant brother, Earl William Ward.

Lorena is survived by her sisters, Mary Ward Ferguson, Rural Retreat, Va., Willena Ward Pruitt and husband John, Marion, Va., Martha Ward Perkins, Wytheville, Va.; brother, Harvey Ward, Marion, Va.; several nieces and nephews; special aunt, Virgie Stone, Christiansburg, Va.; and special friends, Vicki and Ron Dawson, Winnipeg, Canada.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with

Reverend Mike Owens officiating. Burial will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Abingdon, Virginia. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
