Loveita E. Hamm, 84 of Middletown, DE passed away at her home on Saturday, April 20, 2013.
Mrs. Hamm was born in Smyth County, Virginia on July 7, 1928, daughter of the late Emery and Bessie (Hopkins) Earnest. She was employed with General Motors and was the first woman to achieve more than 36 years of service at the Boxwood Road Assembly Plant. A former member of the DuPont Country Club, Mrs. Hamm was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling by motorhome with her husband throughout the United States. She recently reached her goal of visiting all 50 states, having spent her last vacation with her daughters. She also enjoyed spending the winter months in Texas, where she made many lasting friendships. Her husband of 54 years, Famous Ralph Hamm, passed away on December 22, 2000.
Mrs. Hamm will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Linda H. Wilkinson and her husband William, Karen H. Buck and her husband Frank, and Sandra H. Pedrick and her husband Steven; her 15 grandchildren, Lisa Davis, Robert Gebhart, Heather LoRusso, Rhonda Gawronski, Loveita Moffett, Jessica Buck, Tanya Egan, Eric Buck, Tara Egan, Tabatha Egan, Christine Buck, Tamera Egan, Joseph Buck, Steven Pedrick II and Sarah Pedrick; and her 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Agnes Wieland, Lillian Earnest and Kathleen Hirsch; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Darrell, Rudolph and Dwight Earnest; and her sister, Sybil Evans.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Thursday, April 25 from 5:00 - 7:00PM, and on Friday, April 26 from 10:00 - 11:00AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
