Lucile HIcks

FARMVILLE, VIRGINIA: LUCILE ATKINS HICKS, age 94, passed away on Monday, June 08, 2009 in Farmville, Virginia. She was born in Wethersfield, Illinois, but lived most of her life in Virginia. She was a graduate of Marion College and Radford University. Her life was spent as a teacher in the Public Schools of Virginia. She taught 38 years in Smyth and Giles Counties. She retired in 1975. Mrs. Hicks was the wife of Paul P. Hicks. They had one son, Dr. Paul P. Hicks, Jr., a dentist in Farmville, Virginia. Survivors are Paul P. Hicks, Jr., and his wife, Patricia Hicks; two grandchildren, Paul P. Hicks, III (Trey and his wife Meg), and Laura H. Coombe, along with one great-grandson, Lleyton Coombe. Also surviving is a sister, Marilyn A. Heston of Illinois. Mrs. Hicks resided in Farmville, Virginia since 1999. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Dr. Fred Austin officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of the service.
