Lynn Cormany May, age 89 passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at English Meadows, Abingdon, Va.

Lynn was a lovely lady who was passionate about her Church, her family and her community. Lynn grew up as an only child. Her parents tried to spoil her, but she worked hard to do many things for herself. In her high school years Lynn worked for various Marion Main Street businesses earning enough money to buy fabric to sew many of her clothes and also used her earnings to fund her love for all things crafts. This love of crafting continued her entire life. Lynn graduated high school, Marion College and then traveled to the University of Tennessee where she earned her degree in Education, specifically Home Economics. She taught for a few years at Marion Senior High School where she met the love of her life, Sam May. Little did she know, but she had been the apple of Sam's eye for a few months--even before their first date, a U.T. football game in Knoxville. Their engagement was one that was celebrated throughout the halls of the high school and it turned into a fairytale of a marriage. Lynn and Sam raised and adored their daughter, affectionately known to everyone as Bunny. As good as life was for Lynn, sadly she lived to bury her husband and her daughter. Lynn spoke of her family often and always had a gleam in her eye and a pep in her voice when she would share many memories. She was very proud of her grandson, Ben, and the time she was able to spend with him during his younger years. Lynn loved her years as a pre-school teacher for the Marion First United Methodist Church, she often spoke of the fun she had shaping those early little lives. Before going under the care of hospice, some of Lynn's final conversations included fond and funny memories of her time growing up "on the creek" as she would call it and one of the phrases she kept repeating in her final days was, "I've had a wonderful life" and she did. Lynn May will certainly be missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 ½ years, Samuel Davidson May, Jr.; daughter, Michelle “Bunny” Tallent; parents, George “Bus” and Nannie Bell Aker Cormany.

Lynn is survived by her grandson, Samuel Benjamin Tallent of Knoxville, Tenn.
