MARION, Va: Maggie Elizabeth Pennington, age 92, died Friday, January 22, 2016 at Francis Marion Manor in Marion, Va.
She was a member of South Fork Baptist Church and a Life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Marion VFW Post #4667. She was preceded in death by her parents Amon and Mary Thompson; two sisters, Frances Roten and Dorothy Thompson; five brothers, Claude, Herbert, Ambrose, Lee and Lloyd Thompson; and one son-in-law, Bill Hellberg.
Mrs. Pennington is survived by her husband of 74 and a half years, Roy A. Pennington of Marion, Va.; one daughter, Mary Ann Hellberg of Travelers Rest, SC; two sons, Buddy Pennington (Shirley) of Marion, Va. and John R. Pennington (Kathy) of Christiansburg, Va.; one sister, Helen Quillen of Chilhowie, Va.; two brothers, Lewis Thompson (Nancy) of Marion, Va. and Kenneth “Stuart” Thompson (Ruby) of NC; eight grandchildren, Debbie Evans (Tim), Ricky Pennington (Donna), Keith Pennington (Stephanie), Anthony Pennington (Tina), Amy Pedrick (Rodd), Carl Hellberg (Candace), Eric Pennington (Jessica) and Michael Pennington (Erica); fourteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a special niece and neighbor, Joyce Blevins and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Mark Totten officiating. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. West Cemetery in Marion, Va. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
