GROSECLOSE, VIRGINIA: MARVIN EDWARD FUNK, age 67, died Sunday, December 19, 2004 in Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie, Virginia. Born September 28, 1937 in Marion, Virginia, the eldest son of the late Claude W. and Gladys Funk, he lived for many years in the Groseclose, Virginia community, where he loved to sit and talk with his many friends. In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Catron, and a brother, Robert "Bobby" Funk. He is survived by one sister, Anne Whisman and husband, Bob of Marion, Virginia. One brother, James "Jimmy" Funk and wife, Nancy of Atkins, Virginia. One brother-in-law, Clarence Catron of Rural Retreat, Virginia. A sister-in-law, Wanda Stoker and husband, Gwyn of Pulaski, Virginia. A niece, Michelle Owens and husband Steve of Roanoke, Virginia. Four nephews, Kevin Funk and wife, Lori of Wytheville, Virginia; Christopher Catron and wife, Rhonda, and Michael Catron and wife, Mitzi all of Abingdon, Virginia; and Mark Funk of Pulaski, Virginia. Three great-nieces, Jordan, Reagan, and Camille. One great-nephew, Kendell also survive. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Rural Retreat, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the services at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Also, friends may visit at the home of Anne Whisman at 667 Mitchell Valley Drive, Marion, Virginia at any time.
