Mary Lou Olinger age 94, widow of John H. Olinger, joined her loved ones in Heaven, Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Francis Marion Manor, Marion, Va.
Mary Lou was an exceptional and charismatic lady who was very loving and caring to all whether they had two legs or four. A true people person, she found her passion as a hospice coordinator at District Three Government Co-Op before retirement. When she wasn’t caring for a stray animal or person, you could find her reading a book or working a crossword puzzle. She left an impression on everyone and her loving way will be missed by many that loved her in return.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lena Blancett; daughter, Kathy Thomas; and brother, Charles R. Blancett.
Mary Lou is survived by her two sons, John H. Olinger, Jr. (Cindy) and Roy V. Olinger; six grandchildren, Bill Thomas (Jo), Tina Fulton (Bruce), Nat Olinger (Angela), Kesha Null, Brandon Olinger, Zack Olinger; nine great-grandchildren, Erica Santos, John Santos, Brian Santos, Abby Hayden (John), Cole Yarber, Brett Fulton, Drew Fulton, Zachary Olinger, Zoe Olinger; ten great-great grandchildren, Max Rose, Marley Rose, Madden Hayden, Bryan Santos, Luke Santos, Liam Santos, Sofia Santos, John Santos, Lui Ortiz-Desmond, Gabriel Santos; several nieces and nephews; best friend Tru Baer; many friends including staff, residents, special friends Shannon and Shae at Francis Marion Manor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Promised Land Animal Rescue P O Box 841 Port Richey, FL 34673.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 03, 2023 from 5 until 6 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at 6 p.m. with Patty McAndrews officiating. Burial will be private at Ridgedale Cemetery.
