WAUCHULA, FLORIDA: MARY ETTA BLEVINS NICHOLSON, age 49 entered into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday night, November 19, 2008 at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. She was born June 18, 1959 in Marion, Virginia, and moved to Wauchula, Florida in 1977. Mary was employed as an executive assistant for the Hardee County Board of County Commissioners. She was a member of the Real Life Church and involved in "The Story of Jesus" Production. Mary was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and a devout Christian who loved her Lord. She was preceded in death by her father, Tracy Blevins. Mary is survived by her husband, Mike Nicholson of Wauchula, Florida; her mother, Helen Blevins Davis and step-father, Lee Davis of Marion, Virginia; daughter, Breanna Widener of Sebring, Florida; and step-daughter, Lisa Newman and husband, Wayne of Wauchula, Florida; step-sons, Scott Nicholson and wife, Tiffany and Clay Nicholson and wife, Tina all of Wauchula, Florida. She is survived by seven sisters and brothers, Donna Blevins and husband, David of Chantilly, Virginia, Freddy Blevins and wife, Kathy, John Blevins and wife, Debbie, James Blevins and wife, Debbie, Treasa Meek and husband, Roger all of Marion, Virginia, Bobby Blevins and wife, Cathy of Wytheville, Virginia, and Rhoda and husband, Joe of Max Meadows. Six grandchildren survive, Tara Beth Nicholson, Colton and Savannah Nicholson, Justin, Jessica, and Jaidyn Newman. Other survivors include her mother-in-law, Fannie Spivey and a sister-in-law, Connie Banfield and husband, Jeff all of Wauchula, Florida, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Memorial services will be held at Freedom Tabernacle Church in Atkins, Virginia with Rev. Mike Sage on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 11 a.m. with a visitation to follow in the fellowship hall. An education fund has been set up to help Breanna, Mary's daughter, with miscellaneous expenses she will incur in finishing her college degree this spring.
