Atkins, Va.
Mary “Lou” Coe Osborne age 67, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va.
Lou’s passion for food started when she worked at Dairyland, alongside her mother. She worked in numerous other food settings as well. As the years grew, people weren’t customers anymore, they became family. She also worked at Virginia House and Royal Mouldings over the years. Out of everything she succeeded at in life, she was most proud of her girls and grandkids. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and plants. She also enjoyed having a good time, no matter the place. There was fun to be had by everyone when Lou was around.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father Nancy and Jim Coe; maternal grandmother, Blanche Surber; paternal grandparents, James and Bertha Coe; uncles, Jesse Choate and Jim Surber; aunt, Ruth Sharitz; special nephew, J.D. Coe; and lifelong friends, Peggy Pennington and Marla Glass.
Lou is survived by her two daughters, Hope Lefler (Shannon) of Atkins, Va. and Heather Smithson (Bobby) of Abingdon, Va; four grandchildren, Kallie, Kendra, Payton, and Kage; sister, Kathy Jones (Tony) of Marion, Va.; nephew, Chris Jones (Tonia) of Marion, Va.; great-nieces, Emmy and Abby Coe of Riner, Va.; great-nephew Cash Jones of Marion, Va.; numerous aunts, an uncle, cousins, and many friends; special friends include, Jimmy Widener and Sheila Hill.
