Mary Anne Vollmer Voglewede age 72, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston-Salem, N.C.
Mary Anne was born January 8, 1952 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She attended Walsh College and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. She worked as an accountant for several years in Columbus, Ohio, before moving to Marion, Virginia in 1980 where she and husband, Tom, raised their two children. Mary Anne loved to travel and learn about new cultures, do jigsaw puzzles, and research her family genealogy. She was gifted with needlework, and loved sharing her talent for quilting, embroidery, and knitting with family and friends. She was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church for over 40 years and had a strong spiritual and prayer life. She studied to become a Stephen Minister and made it her personal ministry to reach out to people in the community struggling with emotional burdens. Above all, she loved her family fiercely, and always cherished time spent with her husband, two children, and eight grandchildren. Whether playing card games, hunting for crawdads in the creek, attending plays and sporting events, or looking for seashells at the beach, her favorite moments were those spent with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Mary Vollmer
