Meredith Eastwood Busby Frank, age 87, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Virginia.

Meredith was a loving wife, mother and friend. After graduating Mary Washington College, Meredith entered the insurance and financial field until her retirement at age 65. Her giving nature was evident in her enthusiasm with volunteering. She especially enjoyed the annual church yard sale at St. John’s. Meredith was the first woman to receive the Kiwanian of the Year from the Marion Kiwanis Club for her outstanding community service. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. When she wasn’t volunteering somewhere you would find her reading a good book, working a crossword puzzle or in the kitchen cooking. Meredith could cook anything, and her seafood casserole was the best around. She gave freely of her time and love and she is deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Virginia Busby; and brother, Stanley “Buzz” Busby, Jr. 

Meredith is survived by her husband, James Robert Frank; daughter, Helen Powers Frank; many special friends at St. John’s Catholic Church, the Smyth County Regional Library, Helping Hands Thrift Store and a host of many others. 

The family will receive friends Monday, July 29, 2024 from 1 until 2 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, 124 Park Boulevard, Marion VA 24354. Funeral Mass will begin at 2 p.m. with Father Chris Masla officiating. For those who cannot attend, mass will be live streamed on Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/seaverbrownfuneral. A private burial will be held at Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth Va.
