MARION, Va.: Michael David Schwartz, age 60, of Henrico County, passed away on March 4, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Bee Anne Schwartz. He is survived by his son, William Andrew (Drew) Schwartz as well as his brother Jeffrey, sister-in-law Angela, and nephews, David and Cooper.
Mike was known for his quiet passion for family and community. He was a life member of the Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad where his leadership routinely calmed the confusion of medical emergencies they would routinely face. His work ethic and honesty was an example for all of us lucky enough to know him. Mike worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation for more than 30 years which included roles in inspections, engineering, and education. He was an avid ice hockey fan and for reasons why we still do not know, a lifelong Oakland Raiders fan.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Marion Va. Mike will be laid to rest in the town where he was born, Marion, Va., beside his Mom and Dad.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad.
