Mildred Moore Scott, age 93, passed away January 26, 2011, at her home.
She was born November 4, 1917, to David R. Moore and Mary Webster Moore. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Preston Scott, her sisters Annie Margaret Pappajohn and Helen Scott, and grandson Glenn Albert Scott.
Survivors include sons, James D. Scott and wife Annette of Marion and Albert Scott of Abingdon; daughter Mary Preston Scott Stump and husband Eddy of Marion; brother Emmett L. Moore of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; sisters Juanita M. Solomon of Woodmere, NewYork and Elizabeth Jo Bangle of Marion. Grandchildren include Meredeth Scott Perhne and husband Chris of Gate City, Virginia; David A. Scott of Centreville, Virginia; Preston D. Scott and wife Christina of Greensboro, North Carolina; Kristen Stump Byrd and husband Joe, Sarah Stump Hash and husband Jason both of Marion. Great Grandchildren include Emi Scott, Liz Gawryla, Brooke Perhne, and Ben Perhne. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family expresses thanks to Dr. J.E. McDowell and his staff, and to Hospice of Southwest Virginia for their care and support. Thanks are also expressed to caregivers Margaret Lee, Barbara Pugh, Shirley Chatham, Juanita Burkett, and Sandy Teller.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend William Schoeneman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
